His experiences have included processing taxes for low income families in Denver, CO; removing invasive species on a 7,000-acre cattle ranch for abandoned and abused children; building houses with Habitat for Humanity in the midwest; renovating buildings for the Boys & Girls Clubs of greater Detroit; restoring and rebuilding flooded Appalachian communities in Tennessee; working at a residential care facility for youth with genetic disorders, psychiatric diagnoses, and trauma histories; and creating leadership experiences for adolescents with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. For several years, Freeland taught college writing at American University, Framingham State University, and Providence College. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in outdoor/experiential education at the University of New Hampshire, and has an MFA in creative writing from American University. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries.
